The company SPEL, a.s. was established in 1990 as a privately held company in Kolin, located approximately 60 km from Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. From his foundation is SPEL focused on the industrial automation and the control technological processes. In this field the company closely cooperates with a world leading industrial automation corporation Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley, whose headquarters is in the United States. SPEL expanded his activities in engineering and production as an authorized distributor of Rockwell Automation

In 1994, Rockwell Automation acquired the Swiss company Sprecher+Schuh, a key European manufacturer of low voltage components. One year later in July 1995, SPEL signed a contract to cooperate original Sprecher+Schuh products through the Rockwell Automation channels and since production volume has been growing every year.

The company continued to search any opportunities for the development and in July 1996 SPEL signed business agreement about the production with the local branch of Thermo King and with the branch in Galway, Ireland. Due to this relationship, SPEL now produces wire and cable harnesses for air-conditioning and refrigerating units for automotive and railway industries. SPEL also started to produce low voltage control panels and control boxes for companies Ingersoll-Rand, later Emerson Climate Technologies and ThyssenKrupp Aufzugwerke.

Presently SPEL offers superior capabilities in the development, manufacturing and implementation of low voltage control panels by the highest level of quality assurance.

Additionally SPEL produced and tuned microwave antenna filters for mobile communication GSM and UMTS units for the Italian company Forem, a division of Allen Telecom and electromechanical assemblies for the company Linde.

SPEL team includes about 350 experienced employees with a focus on delivering of the highest quality products , systems and services.

Since 1999, SPEL has been certified according to ISO 9002 and currently is certified according to EN ISO 9 001 and EN ISO 14 001.

Effective from July 1, 2010 HSP, Inc. became the authorized North American representative and distributor of SPEL. For more information please see .
